In June 2006, the Department of Health published for consultation Draft Research Regulations under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The regulations are an important part of the Mental Capacity Act and provide detailed policy on a number of issues, including the appointment of the appropriate body to approve research, and the approach to research participants who are not seen as being able to give consent for themselves. DoH is seeking views on these regulations by 5 September 2006.
